Corporal Joseph Walter Montgomery

We're trying to find as much information possible about this hero. With the help of several people on forums, facebook and members of The Replacements we've managed to find quite some information about this man, father and soldier. If you can put a face to a story it becomes more personal. We found 2 pictures of Joseph and some documents from sites like Ancestry. We even connected to a person in England who was willing to visit The National Archives. He discovered war journals dated around the time that Joseph Montgomery was killed.
Also there is a book about the Camaronians, pretty rare and expensive. This book contains a map that shows the location of the unit he was in, around the time of his death. The book and map, combined with the war journal combined led us to the most likely conclusion that he died by a schu-mine while clearing a mine field.
Below some pictures of the data we used.
He is buried in Brunssum War Cemetery in The Netherlands.
We regularly visit his grave, we take care of the headstone and make sure there are flowers at special occasions.
